Whaaat? Toyota's come up with a car named after one of our favorite breakfast treats? Well, it's not exactly named after the well-known waffles, but it's similarly pronounced. The all-new Aygo was recently revealed at the Geneva Motor Show, and while it may not come to the U.S. for a while (or ever), it's worth taking a look at.
Besides its seemingly homonymous name, which is actually pronounced I-go, what really caught our attention about the car is its unique design language which, funny enough, is called J-Playful in reference to Japan's stylish youth culture. We also think Toyota's marketing people probably had some laughs when coming up with the car's tagline: Go Fun Yourself. It's an obvious play on a phrase commonly used in road-rage encounters. Still, it's got a cool factor that emphasizes exactly who this car is targeted for - the young and hip.
That doesn't mean your grandma wouldn't love it though. If she's looking for a compact car (136 inches long to be exact), lives in Europe and wants to get 68 mpg* combined, this is the car for her. Now, take a look at this - again very youth targeted - Aygo commercial and get your glow sticks out for Icona Pop.
Who knows? Maybe Aygo will one day make its way to Toyota of Deerfield Beach, but until then we can enjoy watching it on screen between flashes of anime, busy cities, robots and harajuku girls.
