This Toyota Tacoma concept is sure to strike a chord with all of you “Back to the Future” enthusiasts out there. It’s a reincarnated version of Marty McFly’s dream truck, which was put on display at locations in Los Angeles, Dallas and New York on Oct. 21, 2015. This date probably also rings a bell, too. For those of you who don’t remember, it’s the date when (as told in the film) Marty McFly travels to the future with Jennifer Parker and Dr. Emmett Brown on a mission to save his children.
In the film, the original dream truck was based on a 1985 Hilux. Now, Toyota has conjured up a new version based on the 2016 Tacoma, which has been fully redesigned for the new model year. Several changes were made to the truck to give it a closer resemblance to the 1985 version, though many other modern updates have been made, as well.
To create the new version of McFly’s dream truck, Toyota equipped the Tacoma with D-4S fuel injection badging, the iconic “TOYOTA” logo, the same mud flaps and black paint color as the 1985 truck, and modified head- and taillamp designs that look closer to that of the original truck’s. In addition, KC HiLite driving lamps, a custom light bar, custom front and rear tubular bumpers and BFGoodrich tires were added.
