The iconic Toyota Prius has been fully redesigned! The start of the fourth-generation brings with it state-of-the-art new safety features, fun-to-drive handling, enhanced power and efficiency, and a striking new look that’ll blow you away - no exaggerations.

The 2016 Prius is a green car in a sports car body. See comparison photos below to check out its slick new front and rear lights - which show off some serious angles. Also note the hatchback’s new body-side character lines and boldly raked windshield, which also give it an element of sport. Prius is pictured in a new Hypersonic Red paint hue that accentuates its  daring look.

Improved handling is a big highlight. With a new architecture underpinning the Prius, Toyota has given the hybrid that started it all more fun-to-drive character. Its new TNGA platform offers a multilink rear suspension and lower center of gravity, while a firmer body structure results in greater responsiveness when cornering.

The 2016 Prius is larger yet more efficient. Toyota says shoppers can expect a 10 percent gain in fuel economy, as well as a slight increase in passenger and cargo space. Prius is 2.4 inches longer than before, as well as slightly lower and wider than the outgoing model. Still, it gains efficiency in several ways: All components of its drive system are lighter and smaller, plus the car’s batteries are higher energy and the gas engine’s thermal efficiency is enhanced. If you want class-leading mpg, the 2016 Prius will be your top pick.

New features add to the package. Sources say there’s likely to be a new charging pad for compatible mobile devices, as well as new-and-improved seats. In addition, Prius will be one of the first models in the lineup to receive the new Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) suite of safety systems, which includes Full-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Automatic High Beams and a Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection.

Look out for the 2016 Toyota Prius in Deerfield Beach, Florida, early next year.
