Deerfield Beach Toyota Dealer Reviews the 2014 Highlander
The new Toyota Highlander has received a very different look for 2014 with an imposing upper grille, more recessed fog lights but larger, bolder wrap-around headlamps sweeping back toward a keenly sculpted body. The rear fascia has also been reshaped and updated. Inside, Highlander not only has room for eight people, but thanks to redesigned rear suspension and a slightly longer body, Highlander now offers about 34 percent more cargo capacity behind its third row seating. There's plenty of room to stow extra essentials like alligator and shark repellent supplies, should you decide to test your new snorkeling gear or stop for a roadside picnic where our less friendly Florida fauna may be lurking.
Technology upgrades are also on the 2014 Toyota Highlander menu. Along with those power accessories we've come to expect, all Highlander models are equipped with a rearview camera and both Entune and Bluetooth connectivity. 2014 Toyota Highlander optional add-ons include automatic high/low-beam headlights, heated and ventilated front seats, heated second-row captain's chairs, a navigation system and rear-seat DVD entertainment.
Already a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in 2013, the 2014 redesign augmented outward visibility and newly added safety options include lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitors and parking assist sensors. Standard safety measures include the aforementioned rearview camera, a complement of eight airbags and electronic stability control features such as anti-lock brakes, brakeforce distribution and traction control.
Highlander has traditionally provided plenty of power with its beefy V6 engine delivering a whopping 270 horsepower. Opt for the smaller four-cylinder for better fuel economy, or if you're really serious about saving on gas without sacrificing horsepower, the Highlander Hybrid pairs an electric motor with the V6 engine, netting 280 horsepower.
