We recently reviewed the redesigned 2016 RAV4, but one bit of information we didn’t have at the time was how its changes may have affected its safety standings. The good news is that now we know and the SUV landed on top in both government and independent crash tests.

The 2016 Toyota RAV4 earned the highest possible five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration for both front- and all-wheel drive models. The SUV also earned the highest possible title from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety: Top Safety Pick+. To earn this title the SUV not only had to receive excellent scores in crash tests, but also top scores for its available front collision avoidance system.

Along with basic must-have safety features like airbags, stability and traction control, and antilock brakes, the 2016 RAV4 offers several advanced safety features. In addition to a standard review camera and available blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, the SUV offers an available new Toyota Safety Sense package for the first time. The new package includes adaptive cruise control, pre-collision warning and mitigation, lane departure warning and automatic high beams.

The 2016 Toyota RAV4 is on sale in Deerfield Beach now. Stop by to view inventory and take a test drive.
