The water pump in your Toyota is designed to move coolant where it needs to be for cooling purposes. All gaskets and seals need to be intact to prevent coolant and water from leaking out of the pump. If you're losing coolant because of a leak, this will significantly affect your vehicle's temperature.
Radiators are designed to radiate heat out of your engine compartment and out into the atmosphere. Coolant is also part of this system, as are radiator fans. Damage can occur over time because of regular use.
The valve that is inside of your thermostat will move open and closed as a way of allowing more or less coolant into your cooling system. We frequently see issues with the thermostat getting a valve stuck open or closed. This will prevent coolant from being where it needs to be in the cooling system process.
