In 2020, Toyota gives the Highlander a completely new look inside and out. This year, the Highlander gets a new look with a refreshed exterior appearance. It is more powerful as well, thanks to a stronger V6 base engine. The Highlander also has an exceptional fuel economy that surpasses others in its class. More amenities come standard this year as well, including Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Toyota makes the Highlander even more attractive with the addition of Amazon Alexa, too. What are the Available Trims and Features for 2020?

The 2020 Toyota Highlander is available in five trim levels. The base trim is called the L. Even at the entry-level, the Highlander gets an impressive assortment of amenities. Cloth seats and an eight-inch infotainment display are standard in the base trim. The 2020 Highlander gets two bench-style seats in the back rows for a total occupancy of eight. The next trim level is called the LE. Like the L, it comes with an eight-inch infotainment display and cloth seats. This trim, however, also gets a backup camera and multiple USB charging ports. The third trim level is called the XLE. Its notable features include a smart key entry system and a push-button start. The liftgate greatly simplifies loading and unloading.

Starting with this trim level, leather seats replace the cloth. Next in line is the Limited. The Limited adds heated and ventilated seats in the front row. It also gets a premier JBL sound system. The infotainment system includes navigation, as well. An alternative seating configuration in this trim replaces the eight-seat layout with a seven-seat capacity by replacing bench-style second-row seats with captain's chairs. However, the eight-seat seating layout is still optional. This trim gets larger 20-inch wheels. Finally, the Platinum is made to impress with heated seats in the second row. Embossed leather seats are another highlight of the Platinum trim. The Platinum also gets a panoramic sunroof and a larger standard 12.3-inch touchscreen.

2020 Toyota Highlander Powertrain Options

2020 Toyota HighlanderThis year, the previous four-cylinder engine has been eliminated from the lineup. In its place is the more powerful V6 engine that was available in the previous year. This engine produces a generous 295 HP. This gasoline engine is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. A hybrid engine is offered along with the gasoline engine. It generates a maximum of 240 HP and comes with an automatic transmission.
